Sizing & Fit Guide

A flawless fit is the foundation of haute couture. To ensure your Pépite piece drapes beautifully and allows your dog to move with absolute freedom, please follow our measurement guide below. Always measure your dog while they are standing squarely on all four legs.

A Note on Weight: Silhouettes Over Scales At Pépite, we design for unique silhouettes, not numbers on a scale. Weight is never an accurate predictor of fit—a 15-pound Dachshund requires a drastically different cut than a 15-pound French Bulldog. Please disregard weight entirely and rely exclusively on your dog's exact tape measurements for our tailored garments.

The Essential Measurements

  • Chest Girth (Most Critical): Measure around the widest part of your dog's ribcage, typically just behind the front legs.

  • Neck Circumference: Measure around the base of the neck, where a collar would naturally rest.

  • Back Length: Measure from the base of the neck to the base of the tail.

Atelier Tailored Tip: Do not pull the tape too tight. Always apply the "two-finger rule": you should be able to slip two fingers comfortably beneath the measuring tape.

Fit Notes by Collection

Depending on the specific structured silhouette of your chosen piece, different measurements take priority:

  • Haute Couture Dresses & Vest Coats These statement pieces are crafted from structured, premium materials with minimal stretch. For a tailored look that does not restrict, the Chest Girth is the defining factor. If your dog falls between sizes, always size up.

  • Integrated Vest-Cape Cloaks Our cloak designs feature an elegant outer drape with a structured inner vest fully integrated into the garment. Because of this hybrid design, the Chest Girth measurement is paramount; if the inner vest is too tight, the cloak cannot be worn. Please select the size based primarily on a comfortable chest fit.

  • Harness Clothes & Everyday Vests Designed for functional elegance. These pieces should provide a snug, comfortable fit to ensure the integrated harness D-ring functions safely. Prioritize the chest girth measurement for secure and seamless movement.

  • Hats, Scarves & Bandanas True luxury is in the details. For all hats, scarves, and bandanas, the Neck Circumference (and head circumference for hats) is your primary guide for a perfect, unobtrusive proportion.
